Setup and Compatibility
How is BIM Holoview different from other AR construction visualization tools?+
Most AR tools on the market require a constant internet connection to function. BIM Holoview's standard version works fully offline after initial setup — proven on remote sites with no cellular or Wi-Fi signal. You also get a choice of rendering approach (on-device or cloud-streamed) rather than being locked into one, and broad multi-format CAD support without needing a separate plugin for every design tool.
Are there different versions?+
Yes. The Standard version renders models on-device and works fully offline after initial setup and sync — ideal for remote sites with no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. The HoloLight XR Streaming version is built for large, federated models, streaming full-fidelity rendering from the cloud so there's no need for polygon reduction or model filtering, but it requires a stable internet connection. Which headsets are supported?+
Meta Quest 3 (recommended), Meta Quest 2, and Microsoft HoloLens 2 are fully supported, with Apple Vision Pro available via the HoloLight streaming version. See the full supported headsets list.
Do I need special hardware or training?+
No external sensors or custom hardware are required on-site — BIM Holoview uses QR code anchoring and World Locking to keep your model precisely positioned. The interface is designed to be simple enough that most teams can get started without formal training.
Can I use my existing BIM models?+
Yes. Autodesk® Revit® (.rvt) and Autodesk® Navisworks® (.nwd/.nwc) are supported directly via plugin. Models from SketchUp, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Tekla Structures, Rhino, ArchiCAD, IFC, FBX, and OBJ are also supported via conversion.
Does it work with our existing BIM workflows?+
Yes. BIM Holoview is built to integrate with existing BIM workflows, not replace them — it works with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360®, and standard file storage/project management systems. No proprietary file formats, no locked ecosystem.
Is BIM Holoview tied to Autodesk only?+
No. While there is direct support for Autodesk® Revit® and Autodesk® Navisworks® models, additional CAD/BIM formats are supported through Navisworks ingestion.
Accuracy & Performance
How accurate is the model placement?+
HoloLens 2 delivers precision within 1cm over a 20m range. Meta Quest delivers precision within 4cm over a 100m range.
Can it handle large federated models?+
Yes. The HoloLight XR Streaming option renders large, federated models in full fidelity from the cloud, so there's no need for polygon reduction or model filtering.

Is my model data secure?+

Does BIM Holoview require internet access?+
Not always. The Standard version works fully offline after initial setup and sync. The HoloLight XR Streaming version requires a stable internet connection.
What is a file conversion?+
A file conversion is what happens when a model in a format without a direct plugin (such as SketchUp, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Tekla Structures, Rhino, ArchiCAD, IFC, FBX, or OBJ) is converted into a format BIM Holoview can display. Autodesk® Revit® and Autodesk® Navisworks® files load directly via plugin and don't require conversion.
What size files can it handle?+
Up to 200MB on the Standard version for HoloLens, up to 400MB on the Standard version for Meta Quest, and up to 2GB on the HoloLight version.
